current event

 A case of animal hoarding has led the SPCA to remove 45 dogs from a Brentwood Bay home on Jan. 9th 2013. When people found that, one puppy had died already, a few dogs had been pregnant, all the dogs there were dirty, seemed to be treated terrible. Nobody knew if these dogs had physical or emotion disease.After all, SPCA took away these poor 45 dogs from the man who hoarded these dogs. But to my surprise, the man is trying to ask back these dogs. The dogs are being treated for parasites and are receiving care for medical issues by SPCA in downtown now. The BC SPCA said the dogs will not be available for adoption until legal custody issues are finalized, likely in February. Most people including I, think the man doesn’t have the ability to take good care of those too many dogs, and he shouldn’t have the right to ask he dogs back !

The hero

  The hero that I want to talk about right now is Chris Gardner. Maybe you have heard about him in a famous movie 《The Pursuit of Happyness》. What is hero? who is eligible to be called a hero? That is a big problem that people like to talk about. But as I see it, hero is not a person who has super ability when he was born and use that to save the world. When a person holds on to his believes, never give up and tries his best to solve the problems, even if he knows he might get hurt, might fail and how much hardship he will have. It's impossible for everyone to have the special talent, but everyone can be  hero as long as you want. Just like Chris Gardner, When Chris saw graffiti in the "happyness" spelling error, he said these words: There is no y in happiness, There is i. (y or Why).Yes, there is no happiness in the why, the only others only their own happiness. Why blame others than their own happiness is meaningless, only rely on their own can be happy. He strives to be a good dad, protect his poor family, achieve his dream, but the biggest problem is he doesn't have money. He cries in the bathroom at the train station with his son at Christmas Eve, I promise he hates himself at that moment because he even couldn't provide his son a place to stay at a cold night. Even though, he doesn't give up. When he was at the lowest ebb, he said" If you got a dream, you got to protect it." to his son seriously. He can go back to work with a shoe after he was hitting by a car. He was abandoned by his wife, refused by every companies outside the doors, expelled by the landlord......the only spiritual backbone is his son. He must to protect him. All these difficult experience made him become a real hero, not only just affect his son, but all the people who was moved by him.

The theme of the story: THE VELDT
 
  This story is a science fiction which happen in the future. There was a family: father(George), mother(Lydia), son(Peter), daughter(Wendy). The development of technology brought about changes in their lifestyle such as the type of house they made.This family spent a wealth of money buying a strange but magical house called nursery for themselves. There were a multitude of machines in the house and helped them to do everything like cooking, passing things, clothing them, helping them fall asleep.......They were getting lazier and feel boring even if they lived in a convenient environment. The two children became fascinated with the nursery and they said they didn't want to do anything but look and listen and smell,they were also interested in looking the lions eating the dead bodies. Their parents soon realized that they have a big trouble with their lifestyle. So they invited a psychologist David to help them to check the nursery. His advice to the father was to lock the nursery and leave. But the children were against that, they didn't want to live without the nursery. Unluckily, George agreed to turn on the nursery for one minute after the children's begging. But they left their parents outside for the lions on propose, that was the only way the could stay in the nursery forever......

    This picture is a symbolism that I choose for my grandmother.
    As you can see, actually, this picture is about a kind of religion in China--Buddhism, which has been famous for over 2000 years. Buddhism is the biggest religion in China now, because it is a symbolize for our culture.
    The reason that I choose this picture is because my grandmother is a devout Buddhist. Like the objective of this religion, my grandmother is kind-hearted , honest, tolerant and helpful. When I was young, she told me many stories that about sense of justice, sense of responsibility, spirit of self-sacrifice, integrity and honesty.......Her influence made me get a great family education and a wonderful moral education. She taught me the way to be a ''person'', which is much more important than other kinds of knowledge that I have gotten. I won't never ever forgotten this special gift......

      Theme: The Noble Sacrifice

     This movie is baced on a Chinese classic story which has been very famous in a long time.
     During Qin and Han dynasties years, there was a heroic general called Wang Sheng who was the leader in a town.  He had a virtuous and beautiful wife named Pei Rong. They loved each other,also, they were respected and supported by everyone.
    Once while Wang Sheng was leading his soldiers to fight with a group of enemy successfully, he saved a mysterious woman called Xiao Wei, which was plunder by the enemy. She is so wonderful and beautiful that all the soldiers liked her. But Xiao Wei just fell in love at first sight to Wang Sheng. But she was a fox goblin that more than 900 years old.
 Wang Sheng took her home and began to take care of her like his sister. He realized how strong Xiao Wei loved him. But he still was loyal to his virtuous wife, and refused to marry to Xiao Wei when she asked.
    In fact, Xiao Wei’s skin is not real, she needed to eat people’s hearts to keep her young beautiful skin fresh every day. There was a lizard goblin who had loved her for about several hundreds years helped her to kill people and provided her the most fresh hearts. Some people’s death made the whole town covered with strange atmosphere after Xiao Wei’s coming. But nobody distrusted her because she looked so weak to kill others, everyone believed her except a girl named Xia Bing, who’s grandfather was well-known as catching evil goblins. But she could not find any evidence.
   Gradually, Pei Rong also realized Xiao Wei loved his husband and felt she was different from normal people. She began to worry about that. She didn’t want to lose her family because of the other’s lure.
   On a cold night, Xiao Wei asked Pei Rong to go into her room and told her she killed these people and she needed to eat hearts. Then she showed Pei Rong what she look like under the skin, it was horrible. And she threatened Pei Rong to make a deal with her:Pei Rong was asked to drink a special medicine which would make her hair get white and make her tears  get red. Then she needed to tell all the people that she killed these people who were dead. If she didn’t do that, Xiao Wei would kill all the people in the town.
   Pei Pong was so kind that accepted Xiao Wei’s deal, even if she knew she would lose her husband and die because of the medicine. Because she wanted to save everyone’s life, except herself. She knew that just because Xiao Wei loved her husband and wanted to own his love.
    Then she did.
    But Wang Sheng didn’t believe his wife did that, he promised to everyone if his wife did kill people, he also had the responsibility to bear the punish with his dearly wife, he could kill himself after finding the evidence. Xiao Wei was so disappointed about that. Then Pei Rong died. Wang Sheng was so hopeless and couldn’t help crying. However, Xia Bing still believed Xiao Wei did all the things. She fought with Xiao Wei and show everyone Xiao Wei was the terrible goblin, but she wasn’t able to kill Xiao Wei. Wang Shen begged Xiao Wei to use his life to bring his wife back, and killed himself.
    Xiao Wei was sad and asked him whether he had loved her, he answered sadly:"I love you, but I have already had my wife......"
    At that moment, Xiao Wei understood how altruistic this kind of love was. She was so rueful and then sacrificed all her power that worked for over 900 years to bring all the died people back to life. Then she became a fox again, and would never ever became a person........
    After that, the life in the town became peaceful again. And a white fox was walking in the desert alone........
    (The impression from this movie in my mind shocked my heart. The death of these three people is altruistic, although Wang Sheng and Pei Rong were saved in the end. These noble sacrifices show us what is real love. And I still think Xiao Wei was pathetic,even some people think she was abominable. She just wanted to have love like a person. She was so great that she sacrificed herself in order to let Wang Sheng have his own happiness. )
